One leg in the powder!

Jamie a cropping farmer from Western Australia dreams of heliskiing during those endless tractor sessions involved in getting the job done. Back for his second season Jamie stands out as not just being a great guy but also being the only one-legged skier to heliski with us to date. Leaving his prosthetic leg at the helipad Jamie utilises his outrigger poles and can rip down any of the big lines in the Arrowsmiths right behind the guide and usually well in front of his kids who are fortunate that dad brings them along!! Today we found some great powder snow to keep the whole family happy!

Loving our D2 helicopter

Chief Pilot for Methven Heli Philip Todhunter is loving this years D2 helicopter. Compared to the popular B2 model the D2 performs slightly better at altitude and burns a little less fuel! Philip is such a good pilot and with so much local knowledge from all the years flying in the region I am sure he can make any helicopter perform but it nice to hear that he particularly likes this ship!  Being able to take  a little extra fuel was handy last week when we did 10 runs across the mountains and landed on the beach at Hokitika! The West Coast overnight tour is a fantastic option and this weeks crew are already requesting that we do it again. Our snowpack is looking good after surviving the rain event we now have a solid and stable base to support the fresh snow that s forecast!
