Irish Monks

The “Irish Monks” are a group of Aussie guys who combine heliskiing with partying on their annual trip to Methven Heliski. They are a mix of skiers and boarders of varying talent but all are capable of following the guides down whatever terrain get delivered up! Any crashes result in serious ribbing from the group and stories get bigger as the evening socializing progresses. The Monks stay at Gelnfalloch Station which is probably a good thing as after a long night those extra hours to sleep in are important. This trip the Monks scored 3 perfect consecutive powder days and with lots of extra runs it was one the better trip in the past decade of attendance! The last day we skied on Coast to coast a run where from the landing it is possible to view the ocean on both sides of NZ and then descend 1000 meters of great powder. Thanks for coming Monks, you are one of favourite groups and we look forward to seeing you next season!

  1. Brother Jason

We love coming year after year, Kevin and the team at methven heliski/boarding are the best, . If you want a company that’is professial, safe, fun with guides that can keep finding the best powder, then Methven Heliski/board is the only company to use. See you next year!!!

  2. Thanks Kevin, Jamie and Rob, awesome trip!! See you next year!

  3. Thanks Kevin, Phaedon here from the IrishMonks. We had a fantastic trip with David Wise, Rorie Auld, Jason Cooley, Peter Mycock and Rob Wilkins in attendence. The snow is simply unbelievable at the moment in the Arrowsmiths. Combing these conditions with the expert guiding performance of Kevin and team and you reach monk nirvana. This was our 6th heli season with Kevin and it just keeps getting better. A big thankyou to Jamie for taking us down that chute on day 3, something we won’t be forgetting in a very long time.
