Guides still working!

As we move toward summer our mountaineering business goes into full swing. Alpine Guides offers a full range of instruction courses along with guided ascents of major peaks in the Southern Alps. In the picture is senior guide Jamie Robertson on top of  “Aoraki” Mt Cook , the highest mountain in NZ. For information on Alpine Guides summer activities please checkout www.alpineguides.co.nz . While next winter is a long way off we are busy planning already and next season will be a special one as it will mark 25 years in operation for us!

Down from the high country!

Despite the large amounts of snow still left in the mountains it is time to move onto other activities. For head pilot Philip Todhunter it is time to bring his sheep down from the high country for shearing. “Icebreaker ” buys some of Philips wool so when you buy your next garment check the code to see which high country station it came from. After shearing the sheep are put back into the high country until the Autumn muster. By then the first snows should have arrived and we will be back preparing for another heliski season.
