What will this season bring? 2009 winter was a very difficult one for us however we did end with an amazing deep powder day on the 6th of October and hopefully we will begin with one this year! I have just returned from Canada and it was a difficult season as you would have seen from the Olympics! This has been a very strong El Nino year which NZ experienced first in 2009 with an exceptionally warm August. British Columbia had the warmest February on record and this resulted in very tricky heliski conditions and a high avalanche hazard. The good news is that the El Nino is weakening and that forecasts for this coming winter are for a colder than average season. We can only hope for the best but in the meantime we are gearing up and will endeavour to provide the best and safest heliskiing possible this winter.
