Back to normal

Last week we experienced normal August conditions with 20cm of fresh snow over a very solid base! Great weather, great stability and a familiar crew all out enjoying a large anticyclone. Unfortunately this week we are back in the North Westerly cycle with heavy snow falls in the Alps and strong winds and warm temperatures in Methven. This was probably the worst August we have ever had in more ways than one however September is looking good with a large anticyclone Reischekand cooler weather forecast.

Flying Heaps!

The recent spell of fine weather spelt heaps of flying for us! Conditions have settled out and we have been experiencing great powder skiing on south facing aspects and the first spring skiing on northern aspects. The weather is bad now and we have new snow forecast for the next few days. Our snowpack has bcome stable in the past week and we anticipate being able to ski some of our steeper classic runs in the next few weeks.Still flying

Russians on a High

Russian mountain guide Vitaly picked the perfect weather to arrive in Methven. The snow pack has settled out with the recent warm weather yet we still have plenty of good powder skiing available plus a little bit of spring snow action lower down in the valleys. It is great to have  more confidence in our snow pack and we  can now start getting onto some of the steeper lines we have been avoiding for some time!Russian guests arrive

Worlds Greatest Boss

John FieldingJohn Fielding from Bellevade Construction Limited has to be the man to work for! Today he took 6 of his team heliskiing in appreciation of good work done by his team. The boys were stoked and with 20 to 30cm new snow, who wouldn’t be! The recent spell of bad weather has dropped up to 90cm of new snow in the Arrowsmiths and more is forecast in tomorrow before a fine spell. August is shaping up to be a great month.
