Spending 9 months a year on skis, Phil’s passion for the mountains is backed up by solid credentials. Receiving a degree in Adventure Guiding from Thompson River University in Kamloops, Phil is also a Certified Ski Guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. In his role as Professional Ski Mountaineering and Heliski Guide, Phil has had the chance to work on four different continents, including a season opening Iceland’s first heliski operation.
This is Phil’s first time in New Zealand and although he’s been lucky enough to get a good dose of powder, he’s exited about the upcoming spring too. “The terrain here is big and steep. It’s a big mountain skier’s paradise, the Arrowsmiths have big, aesthetic lines and this season we’ve already had some epic corn skiing”.
As well as being an exceptional ski guide, Phil is also a talented photographer and film maker. Specialising in adventure sports, with of course a huge emphasis on ski mountaineering. When he’s not skiing for work or pleasure Phil can be found in exotic locations documenting extreme adventure activities!
